Itinerary as per this tour's official programme. The tour is private and adaptable: departure/arrival points, pace and nights can be adjusted.
The journey begins at Tangier port, travelling through the Rif Mountains with stops at viewpoints showcasing olive terraces and villages. In Tetouan we explore the UNESCO-listed medina and its traditional artisan crafts. Chefchaouen, the "Blue City," features indigo-painted alleys, rooftop cafes and shops selling woven blankets and ceramics. Late afternoon brings arrival in Fes, with check-in at a riad within Fes el-Bali's ancient walls. (Approx. 309 km)
A full day across the Fes medina: the Mosque of the Andalusians (9th-century), the Chouara Tanneries with their natural dye vats, the Pottery District where artisans shape clay goods, the Nejjarine Museum (carved cedar and brass items), and the Bou Inania Madrasa showcasing elegant carved cedar and zellij tilework.
Travel through Ifrane's mountain scenery and the Azrou Cedar Forest, where Barbary macaques inhabit ancient groves. The landscape opens into the Ziz Valley's date palm groves. Erfoud's fossil workshops display 350-million-year-old trilobites and ammonites, and Rissani's market offers dates and handwoven goods. Late afternoon features a camel trek into the Erg Chebbi dunes with an overnight stay in a Berber camp. (Approx. 467 km)
Pre-dawn dune climbing precedes sunrise over Erg Chebbi, then a morning camel ride returns to Merzouga's edge. Todra Gorge features limestone walls rising over 300 metres deep with walking along the riverbed. Dades Valley exploration includes the "Valley of a Thousand Kasbahs" with mud-brick fortresses, settling at a kasbah-style guesthouse. (Approx. 320 km)
Kalaat M'Gouna showcases damask rose fields and rosewater production. Ouarzazate features the Atlas Film Studios and Taourirt Kasbah's red clay walls. The Ait Benhaddou UNESCO site displays earthen architecture used in major film productions. The crossing of the Tizi n'Tichka Pass at 2,260 meters offers High Atlas panoramas before descending toward Marrakech. (Approx. 325 km)
The day begins at the Koutoubia Mosque and the Saadian Tombs with their marble mausoleums. Bahia Palace displays painted ceilings and tiled courtyards, and the Ben Youssef Madrasa its ornate stucco and cedarwood. Majorelle Garden offers the cobalt-blue villa, bamboo and cacti with a Berber museum. The Gueliz district features Art Deco architecture, and Jemaa el-Fnaa Square concludes the tour with food stalls, street performers and storytellers.
